Rising to the Challenge
COVID-19
A great School that goes the distance, Franklin Academy is exceeding all expectations! Rising to the challenge of this unprecedented time, Franklin Academy can rely on a foundational component of our innovative program – our team approach. Each team has seven adults who plan and deliver a holistic educational program for 18-24 students. This model allows for flexibility in adapting to the needs of our students and enables us to design and implement quality programming, even if it is at a distance!
Franklin students are currently engaged in a fantastic program we created that is true to our mission, called Cyber Franklin. The challenge: to deliver not just academic classes (as most other schools are doing), but to continue teaching skills in executive functioning, social cognition, emotional regulation, and self-care – all of which are at the heart of our program. Our students are now in school from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, very much like they were when they were with us on campus. The day starts with a community meeting, then includes all classes (including electives), individual time with instructors, team meetings, a check-in with their counselor, study hall, clubs, activities, residential lessons, social time with peers, and even room checks! There is built-in downtime, as well as time dedicated to parent support.
Students and parents love Cyber Franklin, feeling very connected and supported. We are so impressed with our faculty and staff and could not be more proud of how they have risen to this challenge. We are Franklin Strong!
