WHAT IS INCLUDED IN AN EVALUATION?
The evaluation begins with an hour-long interview so that the evaluator can begin to formulate an understanding of your concerns and your child’s needs. In addition, the evaluator will review previous evaluations, medical records, school records, and any other pertinent information you provide. With your written consent, the evaluator may also speak with other professionals (teachers, therapists, and doctors) for additional information about your child. If it is determined that an evaluation would be beneficial, an appointment will be made. Depending on the referral questions, an evaluation may take anywhere from two to eight hours. Longer evaluations can be broken into multiple testing sessions if this is deemed necessary. Classroom and community observations may also be conducted in order for the evaluator to observe your child in his or her natural environment. After integrating the information above into a comprehensive evaluation, the evaluator will schedule a feedback session with you to discuss the results of the evaluation, provide treatment recommendations, and answer any questions you may have.
