Dubrovnik is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean for many reasons. First, the Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, featuring handsome stone buildings with tile roofs. Second, its setting on the Adriatic is spectacularly beautiful. Next, there are no cars to dodge on the narrow streets and wide boulevards. The inhabitants of Old Town are incredibly welcoming. Finally, Dubrovnik doubles as Kings Landing in the “must see” HBO series, Game of Thrones. Therefore, it is no surprise that every teacher and student really enjoyed yesterday’s tour through Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Today, we travel four hours up the Croatian coast to the city of Split. There we will visit Diocletian’s Palace, built by a third century Roman emperor who ruled just before Constantine the Great. Our tour will also include the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, considered the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world.
