We reached Marco Polo International Airport outside Venice at 11 am. Ivan’s goodbye was surprisingly emotional with one hug after another. Then, we checked in, passed through security, and waited for our flight to Zurich. There was lunch and some duty-free shopping before boarding. Once in Switzerland, we made a smooth trans-Atlantic connection to Boston, arriving back on campus by 11 pm. Everyone was happy to be home, but I believe that many were just a bit sorry that our adventure is over. As for me, I am once again reminded how great it is to travel internationally with my colleagues and students. We were a congenial and curious group that enjoyed positive engagements at every stop along the way. As for me, I have to say that in so many ways this trip exceeded my expectations. Simply stated, I am smitten by Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy.
