According to Ivan, our tour guide on this trip, it is unusual for American high school students to travel to Croatia. The most popular destinations are Italy and France. This is understandable. However, too many students are missing out on a great travel experience. Croatia is a country that is easy to navigate. It is just 420 miles long from the northern border with Italy to Dubvronik at the southern tip. If one travels inland from the coast to the capital of Zagreb, the distance is about 100 miles. Additionally, Croatia is manageable from a communication perspective since English is really the second language of the country. Add to our travel calculation the physical beauty of land and seascapes, the handsome architecture that reflects many influences, plenty of good food, and the tremendous hospitality of our host country. Simply stated, Croatia is an unbeatable combination. I will be back.
