The day our students graduate is not the day they leave our community. It is the day they begin experiencing it in a new way. Graduation is an important milestone, but it is not the end of a student’s relationship with Franklin Academy. It marks the beginning of a new chapter – one in which our alumni and their families remain valued members of a community built on shared experiences, authentic relationships, and a deep belief in the potential of every student.
At Franklin, relationships have always been reciprocal. Students and families learn from our faculty and staff, but they teach us just as much. Every student broadens our understanding of neurodiversity, challenges us to think differently, and helps us become a stronger school for those who follow. Every graduate leaves an imprint on Franklin, shaping our community and deepening our understanding of how to support neurodivergent young people.
That connection doesn’t end with graduation.
For our alumni, staying connected offers far more than an opportunity to reminisce. It creates lifelong friendships, professional connections, mentorship opportunities, and a community that continues to understand, encourage, and celebrate them. Whether an alum returns for Reunion, serves on a panel, shares a personal or professional milestone, mentors a recent graduate, or simply reaches out to a former teacher, every interaction reinforces the same message:

You still belong here.
Our alumni and alumni families are already strengthening Franklin in meaningful ways. They have returned to campus to share their experiences with current students and families, offered valuable perspectives through advisory groups, helped build our growing Alumni Organization, participated in regional gatherings, supported school priorities, and opened doors through their personal and professional networks. Their engagement enriches our community while helping current families envision the many possibilities that can follow a Franklin education.
Every graduate also helps us understand the lasting impact of a Franklin education. By staying connected, alumni help us celebrate their successes, learn from their experiences, and continue growing as a school. Franklin graduates are educators, artists, authors, engineers, counselors, doctors, farmers, mechanics, pilots, entrepreneurs, service professionals, advocates, and community leaders. Their journeys remind today’s students that there is no single definition of success and no one prescribed path toward a meaningful life. Success looks different for every individual, and every path has value.
Alumni families remain an equally important part of our community. As the parent of three neurodivergent young adults, I understand the comfort of connecting with others who truly understand your family’s journey. Alumni parents possess years of experience, perspective, and hard-earned wisdom. By remaining involved, they encourage newer families, share valuable resources, strengthen Franklin’s network, and help ensure that future generations experience the same sense of belonging, hope, and support that shaped their own family’s story. We all need our village, and our alumni families continue to be an important part of ours.
Staying connected doesn’t require a major commitment. Often, it begins with one small step: registering on Franklin Connections, attending an event, sharing an update, volunteering for a Career Corner conversation, joining an advisory group, referring a prospective family, or simply reconnecting with an old friend. Every interaction strengthens our network and expands what our community can offer.
As Franklin Academy continues to grow, so does the potential of our alumni community. Together, alumni and their families create pathways to friendship, mentorship, employment, lifelong learning, and service. They help preserve the values that make Franklin special while inspiring us to imagine what our community can become in the years ahead.
At Franklin, we believe belonging doesn’t end with a diploma. It grows over a lifetime.
Our graduates may leave campus, but they never stop being part of the Franklin story. Their experiences helped shape this community, their accomplishments continue to inspire us, and their ongoing involvement will help write the chapters still to come.
