Franklin Academy Appoints Josh Acocella-Stollerman as Executive Director of the Center for Neurodiversity

East Haddam, Connecticut — Franklin Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Acocella-Stollerman as the inaugural Executive Director of the Center for Neurodiversity, a transformative initiative designed to expand access to neurodivergent-affirming services for individuals and families.

The Center for Neurodiversity represents a strategic evolution of Franklin Academy’s mission—extending the school’s expertise beyond its campus to serve neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan. Under Josh’s leadership, the Center will bring together a multidisciplinary team of professionals to deliver comprehensive, coordinated support rooted in understanding, respect, and evidence-based practice.

In his role as Executive Director, Josh will lead the development and implementation of the Center’s programming, partnerships, and long-term growth strategy. His work will focus on building a community of providers and services that not only meet clinical and educational needs, but also foster community, connection, and belonging, for neurodivergent individuals.

“Dr. Josh Acocella-Stollerman brings a rare and powerful balance to his leadership—an exceptional depth of understanding of the neurodiversity field, paired with a person-centered approach that builds authentic community, fosters belonging, and ensures that every individual is seen, valued, and supported,” said Alexander Morris-Wood, Head of School at Franklin Academy. “The Center for Neurodiversity reflects who we are as a school and where we are going as an institution. With Josh at the helm, we are confident in our ability to expand our impact in thoughtful and transformative ways.”

The Center will offer a wide range of services, including psychological, academic, and diagnostic evaluations; Occupational Therapy and evaluations; social programming; college counseling; executive functioning coaching; and professional development and consultation. Plans are also underway to expand services to include individual counseling, both in person and via telehealth. Currently, Franklin Academy is renovating its on-campus facility and developing the infrastructure necessary to launch services. Looking ahead, the Center aims to grow its reach through additional locations and expanded offerings, including social coaching, vocational support, and programming for parents and professionals. “This work is deeply personal and profoundly important,” said Acocella-Stollerman. “We are building more than a set of services. We are creating a community where neurodivergent individuals and their families feel understood, supported, and celebrated. I am honored to help lead this effort.”
