Franklin Academy Nominated for Best of Connecticut 2026: Recognition Highlights the School’s Rigorous, Student-Centered Approach to Education

East Haddam, Connecticut — Franklin Academy has once again been nominated in the Private and Catholic Schools category for the Best of Connecticut contest, an annual statewide recognition program that highlights outstanding organizations and institutions across a wide range of industries.

This nomination places Franklin Academy alongside more traditional independent and parochial schools, underscoring the strength of its academic program and the growing recognition of its innovative model for educating neurodivergent students.

“At Franklin Academy, we are deeply committed to delivering a rigorous college-preparatory education in a way that meets students where they are,” said Head of School Dr. Alexander Morris-Wood. “To be recognized alongside traditional schools across Connecticut affirms the strength of our academic program, our dyadic advising model, and our focus on building the skills students need to succeed in college and beyond.”

Located in East Haddam, Connecticut, Franklin Academy is an independent boarding and day school serving students in grades 8 through postgraduate. The school is known for its strength-based approach, combining high academic expectations with individualized support in executive functioning, social development, and self-advocacy. Through its unique dyadic advising system—pairing each student with both an Academic Advisor and a Student Life Advisor—students receive personalized guidance that extends across both academic and residential life.

Franklin Academy also offers advanced academic opportunities, including Honors and Advanced Placement coursework as well as University of Connecticut Early College Experience (UConn ECE) classes, allowing students to engage in college-level work while still in high school.

The Best of Connecticut contest, hosted by CT Insider, generates significant visibility across the state, with winners determined through public voting. Community members are encouraged to support Franklin Academy by casting their votes during the open voting period.
