We are thrilled to share that Toni Schexnyder, Associate Dean of College and Career Counseling at Franklin Academy, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Gayle C. Wilson Outstanding Service to the Profession Award from the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).
This prestigious national honor is awarded to NACAC members who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to supporting students and families on their educational journeys. The award recognizes professionals who consistently advocate with passion and integrity, mentor colleagues, and inspire the next generation of leaders in the field of college admission and counseling.
Toni embodies each of these qualities.
As a neurodiverse educator herself, Toni brings both personal insight and professional expertise to every student interaction. At Franklin, she has built a comprehensive college and career readiness curriculum that empowers students in grades 9–12 to take ownership of their futures. Her approach integrates self-awareness, executive function, disability rights, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and self-advocacy – skills that are vital for neurodivergent learners navigating the path to adulthood.
Toni’s journey in college admission and counseling began in 2013 at Texas State University. Over the years, she has held influential roles in organizations including the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) and NACAC’s Disabilities and Neurodiversity Special Interest Group. She earned her ICF Associate Certified Coach credential in 2024, specializing in ADHD and executive function coaching, and has shared her expertise widely as a national presenter and published author.
“Toni has transformed how Franklin prepares neurodivergent students for life beyond high school,” shared Dr. Alexander Morris-Wood, Head of School. “Her innovative curriculum and her ability to connect big-picture goals with practical strategies ensure that every Franklin student leaves here with confidence in their voice and a clear path forward.”
From presenting at national conferences to mentoring colleagues, Toni has made a profound impact not only at Franklin Academy but across the profession. This award is a well-deserved recognition of her unwavering commitment to empowering students to dream big, plan boldly, and advocate for themselves.
We are proud to celebrate Toni and her remarkable contributions to our community and beyond.
