Biography:

Sara Gould began her tenure at Franklin Academy as a science teacher before transitioning to learning specialist and then academic dean. As academic dean, Sara oversees the academic programming (including core and elective courses offered, post-secondary and transition services, and the development of skill and content-based standards), the implementation of accommodations and modifications and special education best practices, and the collaboration between Franklin Academy and school districts. Prior to her work at Franklin Academy, she worked in the Guilford Public School system (Guilford, Connecticut). Sara has a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in secondary science education and a master’s degree in special education with a focus on assistive technology from Southern Connecticut State University. Additionally, she has a master’s degree from the University of Kansas in Autism Spectrum Disorders. In using her education and experience, Sara trains faculty in a variety of areas, including special education law, how to effectively use assistive technology with students, and executive functioning. Additionally, Sara has served as a team member for New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation visiting committee.
