What is your favorite Franklin tradition and why? My favorite Franklin tradition is the Closing Ceremony at the end of the year. I love this tradition because it gives the community a chance to close out the year without any families, alums, etc. I also think it is special that the graduating class can speak to the community and say goodbye. The most important part of this ceremony is the passing of the light where each graduate passes a candle to a rising senior. This symbolizes that the new class has the responsibility to be role models to younger students. As an alum, Closing Ceremony was highly emotional and meaningful.
Something I love about Franklin Academy is… Something I love about Franklin Academy is the community. I was immediately welcomed by my peers and faculty when I first came to campus 10 years ago. I am still very close with many of them to this day. Everyone here is inclusive and nonjudgemental because the majority of our students know what it feels like to be excluded. We take pride in our community and carefully curate it for every year. I am incredibly grateful for our community both as an alum and a faculty member.
If I could shadow a Franklin alum for the day, what would I hope to learn? As a Franklin alum, I am very proud of my success and what I have been able to accomplish. I have also seen the wide range of what my friends have done since graduation. I would like to learn more about what our alums go on to do and what skills from Franklin they use in their post secondary and adult lives.
