With nearly twenty years working in special education, Chelsea first started her career as a Mathematics Instructor. After graduating from Suffolk University with a focus on the sciences, she taught various levels of math as well as electives focused on history of local indigenous people, meteorology, and financial literacy. Over the course of her early years in education, Chelsea also pioneered international travel, leading a trip to Sydney, Australia with 20 students. As Chelsea developed, she was quickly promoted to a Residential Dean, Division Lead, and finally, the distinguished position  of Dean of Students. Chelsea’s primary focus at Franklin Academy is on the student experience, specifically leading new initiatives, expanding extracurricular activities, and nurturing a supportive community environment ensuring inclusivity and safety. Chelsea presents to families and educators on the “Franklin Difference” and focuses many of her talks surrounding implementing executive functioning routines to new environments. As an East Haddam resident since birth, Chelsea is an active community member, and volunteers her time at the local elementary school.
