Biography:

Mary Beth Buckwald is a Speech and Language Pathologist, with over thirty years of experience supporting individuals of all ages, children, adolescents, and young adults, as they develop essential communication, academic, and social skills. 

Throughout her career, Mary Beth has worked in diverse settings, including rehabilitation centers and both public and private schools, where she has supported individuals with a wide range of communication needs. Her extensive evaluation experience allows her to skillfully connect standardized assessment results to the functional and practical needs of each individual. 

Mary Beth continues to be an advocate in educating others of language as a critical factor in the development of executive function skills and social communication across all ages. The hope is that through communication coaching, more individuals will recognize that effective communication is a cornerstone of human interaction—shaping our relationships, opportunities, and confidence. Whether in academic or social environments, preparing for a presentation or interview, or engaging in personal conversations, she helps individuals strengthen their ability to connect meaningfully with others.

For decades, Mary Beth has been dedicated to working with neurodivergent learners. She deeply understands the importance of language—not only as a tool for learning, but as a means of expressing thoughts, feelings, and identity. She sees the many ways language shapes everyday life and believes that Franklin Academy stands out for its commitment to equipping students with the communication skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex world.
