Sean O’Leary brings a vast knowledge base from a range of educational settings to his role as Admissions Counselor at Franklin Academy. With over a decade of dedicated work in independent and public schools, Sean offers a steady presence, empathic understanding and creative outlook when supporting students through transitions and toward their overarching goals.

Sean’s areas of interest and continuing studies have centered on best practices in supporting LGBTQIA+ students, integrating art and mental health, facilitating restorative practices, and bolstering DEI initiatives. Sean has established himself as a strong collaborator and dynamic student advisor who approaches challenges with levity and calm. Through his prior role as lead School Counselor and 504 Coordinator at a K-8 Waldorf school in Portland, Oregon, Sean was instrumental in implementing a comprehensive counseling program that integrated social learning, emotional wellbeing, individualized planning, and family outreach while fostering a safe and brave school climate.Sean began his professional counseling career at Franklin Academy as a Team Counselor and eventual Clinical Coordinator and is so happy to return to this stellar community as a member of the Admissions team. By incorporating his school counseling expertise, Sean works to effectively support prospective students and their families through a smooth and informed enrollment process. His vision is to help students find their place and people at Franklin in order to bring their immense talents into the greater world.
