Franklin Academy is a college preparatory boarding school that serves boys and girls in grades nine through twelve on a beautiful campus with seventy-five acres of rolling hills, open fields, ponds, and thickets of trees adjacent to the extensive Chapman Pond Preserve.
Our students come to us from across the country and around the world. Over twenty-five different states are represented in our student population, and there is a growing number of international students attending our school, including foreign nationals who fit our student profile. The overwhelming majority of students live at Franklin Academy, though we enroll every year day students from East Haddam and nearby communities. We will also enroll some eighth grade students who are ready to participate in our high school program.
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges accredits our high school program. Upon granting the school its initial accreditation, NEASC commended Franklin Academy for creating an academic program and residential community that completely matches its mission. Additionally, Franklin Academy is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, an organization that comprises 1,400 of the top private, independent schools in the country.
