Franklin Academy students often speak from the heart during Community Meeting, coming to the podium to recite a quote, share some song lyrics, or read aloud a passage of prose. Our speakers typically offer personal perspectives about the meaning of the words just spoken. Classmates and teachers listen attentively. There is often a challenge. As a result, we frequently hold up the mirror to reflect on what we believe and how we behave. Such engagements always end in appreciative applause from the audience.

This week Kaila shared a short poem, titled “Anna,” from the The Kindergarten Teacher, a 2018 Netflix’s movie.

Anna is beautiful
Beautiful enough for me
The Sun shines her yellow house
It is almost like a sign from God
