Franklin Academy is an inclusive boarding school community. The hand of welcome is eagerly extended to newcomers, and everyone participates in all aspects of the Franklin experience. A great example of this participation is the annual all-school prom. Whether you are a senior or a freshman, with or without a date, good dancer or not, every student goes to the prom. Of course, there is a lot of previewing. Team lessons focus on dance lessons, dinner etiquette, dress, and grooming. We take the afternoon off from classes to prepare. Then, school vans shuttle students to the historic and beautiful Gelston House that overlooks the Connecticut River in East Haddam. As the camera clicks away, students enjoy a magical evening filled with good food, lots of camaraderie, and nonstop dancing. Last night was perfect in so many ways.
