Franklin Academy’s seventy-five students come from ten states and two foreign countries. A third has been recommended to us by educational consultants. A substantial number hail from Connecticut, followed by Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey. Some travel to East Haddam from far away – Florida, Texas, and California, as well as Hong Kong and Ecuador. While most students are boarders, seven percent are day students. Sixty-four percent are male; thirty-six percent are female. This year students of color make up thirteen percent of our population. We estimate that forty-five percent of all students receive significant financial support from their home school districts to attend Franklin Academy. We are also proud to announce that for the second time in three years we have a National Merit Semi-Finalist in our senior class. Finally, I predict that 100% of our graduates will go on to college or enroll in a post-secondary program.
