The Honors Program at Franklin Academy challenges bright, motivated students to excel in specific academic areas. The disciplines are science, literature, history, and mathematics. The rigor of an honors course exceeds a standard core or elective course. Specifically, an honors student completes significantly more independent work in and out of class. For this reason and others, students participate by invitation only. Once accepted into the program, a student completes three Honors courses within a discipline in order to receive a diploma designated with Honors. These courses also carry the honors designation on the Franklin Academy transcript. As a way of applauding the good work of twenty seniors and underclassmen participating in this program, my wife, Gabrielle, and I hosted last night the Honors Dinner at the Headmaster’s Residence. It was a great event.
