A New Admissions Cycle Begins

Halfway Day will soon be observed at Franklin Academy. While there is still a lot of this school year to be lived and experienced, a focus on 2018-2019 has begun to sharpen. Re-enrollment contracts were sent to current underclassmen, as well as seniors and postgraduates seeking an additional year, during the last week of December. Signed contracts and enrollment deposits are due on February 1. This past Sunday the Admissions Office sponsored our second information session for this cycle, hosted by my wife, Gabrielle, and me at the Headmaster's Residence. Even with the single digit temperatures coming at the end of an unprecedented winter freeze, we attracted our largest crowd for one of these sessions. My responsibilities were two-fold – bake plenty of big chunk chocolate chip cookies and welcome our guests. Cindy Pope, Admissions Director, served as emcee. Rebecca Hays, Clinical Director, provided a succinct overview of our distinctive and comprehensive program. Then, Sam and Ross, current seniors already accepted by several colleges and universities, and Ri, FA class of 2017 who is enjoying success at Emerson College, shared their impressions of the school and answered many questions. They were joined on the panel by Belinda Brennan, parent of two FA alumni and one of the newest members of our Board of Trustees, and Dr. Tom Hays, Assistant Headmaster, who is the architect of our educational program. We ended the session with smaller informal conversations as the parents of prospective students sought specific information about different aspects of our program. The dates of future information sessions are as follows: February 25, April 29, and July 21.
