Fall is magical at Franklin Academy. Vibrant colors paint the campus. Brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows shimmer in the saturated autumnal light, juxtaposed against deep blue skies. Early morning mist rises from the pond, and the sunsets over the Connecticut River are spectacular. Slowly and surely, however, the wind and the rain of late October and early November strip the trees, revealing the harder outlines of a New England landscape no longer softened by ample green foliage. This week the temperatures plunged, and the first snow flurries fell. Winter is coming.
