At the end of spring break, I traveled to New York City with my wife, Gabrielle, for a Franklin Academy reception at the beautiful Upper East Side apartment of Neal and Graciela Meltzer, parents of Marley, FA Class of 2021. Joining us were Kinsley Rausch (Development Director), Matt Landry-McWilliams (Theater Director), Cindy Pope (Admissions Director), and Josh Weissbach (Crane Team Leader and School Photographer), as well as Bob Sherlock, Vice Chair of the Franklin Board of Trustees. The guests included alums, current and alumni parents, friends of the school, and parents of prospective students.
The setting and hospitality were magnificent, the conversations were spirited, and no one wanted the evening to end. In a subsequent letter, Neal and Graciela wrote about our alumni who attended: “Ross, Zac, Alex, and Alec blew us away. They are impressive young adults and excellent ambassadors for Franklin. They certainly demonstrate what can happen when great kids and educators work together. Their appreciation for the school and all of you was inspiring.” I agree.
Our next major school event is Franklin Academy’s 20th-anniversary celebration on Saturday, June 3, which coincides with graduation and reunion. We anticipate a big crowd.
