I remember the day Lincoln Squitieri learned during his senior spring that he was going to Syracuse University. His acceptance was through InclusiveU – an important educational initiative of the Lawrence B. Taishoff Center on campus. He was ecstatic! Coming down the homestretch of his sophomore year at Syracuse, Lincoln has flourished as he works through a comprehensive and individualized program to support his career goals.

In response to my questions during his return to Franklin Academy, Lincoln talked about his Sports Management major and hopeful expectation of a summer internship with a blog website and digital media company that produces content on sports and pop culture. He is proud of his 3.4 GPA. Accommodations include one less class per semester, extra time on tests, and work with tutors. I was impressed to learn that he plays as a back for the Syracuse Rugby Football Club (The Hammerheads). The team travels nationwide to play schools like UCLA, Brown, Cornell, Penn State, and Fordham. There is practice for two hours five times each week and games on weekends.

Lincoln loves the big school environment of Syracuse University, and he is excited about the possibility of studying in Italy, England, or France during the fall semester of his senior year. His parting advice for current Franklin Academy students interested in Syracuse focused on the weather. “You have to like the winter. We get a ton of snow.”
